Last week we featured a partial post and beam single level plan called The Morton. This week we kick it up a notch with a full post and beam single level contemporary barn home plan, The Lexington. Bet you can guess the state in which this newest design is being built. Think horses and The Derby!
Contemporary Barn Home
This single level contemporary barn home has it all. At 2402 square feet, the three bedroom, three bathroom house is comprised of an open floor plan, vaulted post and beam ceilings, gorgeous glass to bring the outside in, and private owners quarters accessed through an enclosed glass hallway. The guest quarters are located on the opposite end of the house. I saw this plan and immediately said “I want to live here!”.
Smart Home, Smart Plan
This house will be built with all the latest today’s technology has to offer, so it really will be a smart house. But my favorite part of this contemporary barn home’s story is the short and long-range plans the owners have devised around this house. Currently living in the Northeast, they miss their home southern home state but need to stay in the Northeast for now. Their answer: build a gorgeous house in their childhood hometown and use it as a vacation/weekend escape. Down the road when they’re older, the house will become their primary residence, where they’ll live full-time.
Good Design, Great Bones
The Lexington is a perfect house design in that it lends itself easily to differing exterior architectural styles. While this house is going to be a contemporary barn home, the plan could easily accommodate the architectural features of a farmhouse, a lodge or a traditional barn style home. This is the very definition of a well designed house!
